Mukansi Signing On The Cards

Moroka Swallows MD Leon Prins has confirmed that the club are hopeful of bringing McDonald Mukansi into the Birds camp on a permanent basis.

The former Cosmos and SuperSport United midfielder-cum-striker made somewhat of a surprise appearance in the Dube Birds' credible 2-2 draw with Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday.

The former Bafana Bafana man seemed determined to make an impression in the game, and that he did, with a cracking goal which rifled into the corner of the net from 30-yards out.

Moroka Swallows MD Leon Prins confirmed the club's interest in the player.

"McDonald has been training with the team for a week and we are hoping to sign him."

Prins added that they have a specific role in mind for the player, who possesses incredible speed, and who goes by the nickname of 'Scooter'.

"He has often been played on the right of midfield," said Prins, "but we have a different role in mind for him."

Coach Gavin Hunt also believes that the player would be a great asset to the team.

"He has loads of pace and loves to play in the faces of defenders. He could do a grand job for us," he said.

Prins added that he was proud of the way the team had acquitted themselves against the Dutch league champions on Sunday.

"We did very well, especially considering that we had played against Black Leopards in 43 degree heat and then faced a seven hour trip back to Johannesburg. So the players were obviously not very fresh, I believe that we could have won the match were it not for these factors."
