Siyabonga Nomvethe says he is motivated to recapture his best form and help the Birds up the log standings.
The evergreen striker announced his return last week with a crucial equaliser to secure Moroka Swallows a point on the road.
"In the box sometimes you have to close your ears, you can't pass in the box; so I closed my ears and took the shot," he excitedly told morokaswallows.co.za.
"It's a good feeling to be back. The best part of it all is to finally join the guys on the pitch again."
He was happy to clock a full 90 minutes as he continues to build up his fitness following a long injury layoff.
"I played 90 minutes in a friendly match and this was my second time [against Ajax]. I just have to continue to work hard and I will be back up there," he said.
"Judging from my performance I think that I'm almost back to my best. I'm almost there."
The striker will be happy to have had a chance to catch his breath, after a bye this past weekend.
Next on the agenda for the Birds is the University of Pretoria at the Tuks Stadium on Wednesday night (kick-off 7.30pm).
