'Dube Birds' fly over Stars

Moroka Swallows came back from a goal down to beat Free State Stars 3-1 in an Absa Premiership match at Germiston Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Stars were the first team to draw first blood when Sifiso Sithole beat Greg Etafia with a powerful shot after receiving a pass from Prince Olomu.

Swallows response was swift as Sandile Ndlovu netted twice in the 17th and 28th minute to give his side the lead.

Lefa Tsutsulupa and and Evans Gwekwerere, who was having a good game, also tried a few long range shots but their shots were saved by Stars goalie Elias Mashinini.

The score remained 2-1 in favour of Swallows at half-time.

Stars put Swallows under pressure in the second half, but failed to find the net as Bevan Fransman marshalled the backline with authority.

With Stars pushing more men forward it meant that more spaces were opening at the back and Swallows punished Stars in the 84th minute when Cecil Oerson beat his marker before slotting the ball home.

The win took Swallows to position seventh position on the log while Stars remained eighth.
