'Injury Time' with Dr E - 08/05/2008

With the 2007/08 South African soccer season almost at a close, so are the injuries at the 'Beautiful Birds' nest, dwindling with each day that passes...

News of the ward emptying out is, of course, great news for us, as a club, as we look to finish in the top eight - or even higher!

The 'Birds' ward round has been narrowed down to:

1. Bjorn Gugger:
Had lateral menisectomy on his left knee a few years ago. He subsequently suffered damages to the cartilage in that joint. Operation done in January 2007.
Opinion: He has been declared medically fit to train/play.

2. George Hummel:
He had a left tibia operation late 2006, following a troublesome stress fracture.
Played the last seven league matches of the 2006/2007 season, and has been training/playing this season without any adverse effects.
Started complaining of persistent left leg pains and a subsequent X-Ray done revealed a recurrence of the old fracture.
Operation: Revision surgery of left tibia. Fracture defect was bone-grafted on November 2007.
Opinion: Has been declared medically fit.

3. Sandile Ndlovu:
Diagnosis: Lower backache.
Opinion: Fit to train/play.

4. Bevan Fransman:
Injured his right groin last week.
Diagnosis: Mild groin strain (adductor tendinitis).
Opinion: Trained on Wednesday, May 7 without any adverse effects.
Expected to be fit against SuperSport United on Saturday.

5. Lefa Tsutsulupa:
Injured his left groin last week.
Diagnosis: Mild groin strain (adductor tendinitis).
Opinion: Still undergoing treatment - has not started training this week.
To undergo fitness test on Friday.

6. Goodman Mazibuko:
Complained of lower backache last week.
Diagnosis: Still undergoing treatment.
Opinion: To undergo late fitness test Friday, May 9.

Till next week,

Cheers!
