'In the Hotseat' with Eddie Malinga

This week, 'In the Hotseat','s Khaya Ndubane spoke to Moroka Swallows' defensive hardman, Edward 'Eddie' Malinga.

It's Eddie 'In the Hotseat'!
Khaya Ndubane (KN): Hi Eddie, welcome to the Hotseat.

Edward Malinga (EM): "Hi Khaya, thanks for inviting me to talk to the fans."

KN: Eddie, with only three games left before the end of the season, how do you view your first season at Swallows?

EM: "I have been here since January only, so it's difficult for me to reply to that question. Remember, I played only a handful of games and injuries did not help matters. But to answer your question, I think I have made a lot of progress since joining Swallows."

KN: Do you think that you've achieved the goals that you set yourself after joining Swallows?

EM: "Yes and no. I encountered a lot of problems before I joined Swallows and these problems brought down my morale. However, with the help of my new team-mates, and the technical team, I regained my self-belief, but before I could cement my place in the starting line-up injuries struck. But I'm back to full fitness now and I am once again fighting for a place in the starting line-up - I'm looking forward to next season, which I hope will be my season to shine."

KN: What have been your best and worst moments since joining Swallows?

EM: "I enjoyed the two recent wins over Ajax Cape Town and Free State Stars. But my worst moment was when we lost 1-3 to Santos at home in the Nedbank Cup."

KN: On a personal note, who do you usually hang out with at Swallows?

EM: "I usually hang out with Sandile Ndlovu. But I do go out with other guys because I consider all my team-mates to be my friends."

KN: Eddie, thanks for talking to us and I wish you a nice stay at Swallows

EM: "Thanks Khaya. Before I go, I want to say thanks to the 'Birds' supporters who have stood by the team through thick and thin. Your support means a lot to us!"
