Inclement weather grounds 'Birds'
The Moroka Swallows first-team squad assembled for its first training session of 2008 on Friday - only to be greeted by poor weather.
There has been plenty of rain in Johannesburg of late, which put pay to any serious training 'Birds' coach Ian Gorowa might have had planned.
However, the inclement weather aside, it was not all doom and gloom for Swallows, according to the club's General Manager, Sipho Xulu.
"Looking at the guys," he told morokaswallows.co.za, "they all look in good nick."
He continued: "They all had 'off-season' programmes to keep to, and it looks like they stayed away from the Christmas pudding over the festive season! It shouldn't be long and they'll all be up to speed, fully."
Of course, with the Absa Premiership in limbo until February 12 - Swallows face Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, February 13 - the players have plenty on time to work on their fitness.
Off the field, however, the management are keeping an eye on the transfer market during the January window.
Said Xulu: "We are looking at the market and looking at our own resources to see what, if anything, is available to us.
"Of course, we won't just buy for the sake of buying, but we need to investigate this before making any move or comment to the media."
