Chamanga's brace sinks Stars
James Chamanga continued his goal-scoring spree as he scored a brace to help Moroka Swallows beat Free State Stars 2-0 in an Absa Premiership at the Goble Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Zambian striker, who hit a PSL record five goals against Platinum Stars on Sunday, was again in hot form, hitting a brace to move clear at the head of the Premiership's goal-scoring charts on nine goals.
After a bright start to the match, it was Swallows who broke the deadlock on the 20-minute mark when Chamanga drilled home a left-footed shot from within the 18-yard area to put his team in the lead.
Stars pushed men forward in search of the equaliser, but struggled to bring strikers Sthembiso Ngcobo and Diyo Sibisi into the game, leaving the 'Birds' a goal to the good at the interval.
Chamanga then doubled his tally soon after the restart, shooting past goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene after being set up by strike partner Sandile Ndlovu.
Stars' Jimmy Kauleza forced Swallows 'keeper Greg Etafia into a good save just a few minutes later and Duncan Lechesa shot wide from the resulting corner, as Stars looked to bring themselves back into the game.
But a combination of poor finishing and some stout defending by the 'Birds' ensured that the visitors handed 'Ea Lla Koto' their first home defeat of the season.
