Hunt - 'He will be our next captain'

Moroka Swallows coach Gavin Hunt believes that his new recruit, 16-year-old Ramahlwe Quinton Mphahlele, has the potential to be a future Swallows captain.

Mphahlele, who is the current South African Under-17 skipper, was promoted by, Hunt, from the 'Birds' development academy at the start of the 2006/07 season.

"Mphahlele is a very talented player and we felt that he has matured enough to play in the Premier Soccer League this season," Hunt told the official Swallows website.

He added: "Obviously, we did not just promote him to make the numbers in the squad. He will come into a reckoning as soon as I have worked on his tactical awareness.

"He will then compete with other defenders for the right-back position and when he is ready, he will play in our central defence and maybe take the captain's armband."

Hunt, however, said he would not put any unnecessary pressure on the youngster - although the Swallow boss believes it is up him (Mphahlele) to make it in the "big league".

Meanwhile, Hunt revealed that the 'Birds' preparations for Saturday's Castle Premiership match against Black Leopards were going well.

"I have almost a full squad to choose from, except for Lovers Mohlala who picked up an injury during the SAA Supa 8 match against Silver Stars on Saturday.

"Goodman (Mazibuko) is still out, but we are welcoming back Bjorn Gugger and George Hummel and they will give me more options to choose," Hunt concluded.
