'Birds' miss out in Soweto derby

Moroka Swallows got off to a poor start to the second round of Absa Premiership fixtures, going down 0-3 to Orlando Pirates at the Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom on Wednesday night.

A slip up by Bevan Fransman gave Gilbert Mushangazike a one-on-one chance with keeper Greg Etafia, allowing the striker to slot to the ball into the back of the net in the 13th minute.

Fransman made up for his early error and kept a close watch on the Zimbabwean striker for the rest of the match, limiting any further damage.

Swallows managed to contain the rampaging 'Buccaneers' for the rest of the first half, but were put to the sword in the second stanza.

Pirates kingpin Teko Modise rifled home a powerful shot from outside the 18-yard area in the 67th minute and Excellent Walaza finished off the the Dube Birds five minutes from time.

Swallows will face Santos in Potchefstroom in their next Absa Premieship fixture and will be looking to return to their winning ways.

Bevan is staying in the nest! Your views?

Great news - we can continue to build around him!
Wonderful, but there is too much pressure on him.
It doesn't matter, as I was already resigned to losing him...
