Chalwe confident of 'Birds' victory

Star Moroka Swallows striker Songwe Chalwe is confident that the 'Beautiful Birds' will beat the high-flying Mamelodi Sundowns when the two teams meet in a Castle Premiership match at Loftus Stadium on Saturday night (kick-off 8.10pm).

And Chalwe - who has been in great form for Swallows of late, having scored two goals in two matches - hopes to add to his tally against the defending champion 'Brazilians'.

"My goal-scoring form has picked up at a right time when the team is in desperate need of goals," a confident Chalwe told the official Swallows website this week. "I'm hoping that I can score at least one goal against Sundowns, who knows, that goal might turn up to be the winning goal!"

Chalwe's hunger for goals would be music to the ears of 'Birds' coach Gavin Hunt, who has been trying hard to find the right combination up front this season.

"It does not matter who I will be partnered with on Saturday as long as we both give the slow Sundowns defence a hell of a tough time," said the former Kaizer Chiefs striker.

"We have found our winning formula now and as much as we respect Sundowns, we will give them a run for their money.

"Our preparations for this encounter have gone well and we are ready for them."

The challenge of facing the high-riding 'Downs team aside, Swallows have a challenge of their own to deal with - trying to get through February unbeaten.

"A victory against Sundowns will go a long way in us achieving that," concluded Chalwe.
