'Birds' Reserves beat Chiefs

Bongani Mbele was in sublime form as Moroka Swallows' Reserves hammered the Kaizer Chiefs Reserves 2-0 in a Reserve League match at the Corinthians Sports Club in Linksfield East, Johannesburg, on Thursday afternoon.

The young midfielder scored a brace in the first half as the 'Beautiful Birds' continued their winning ways in the eight-team league.

Mbele's first goal was a powerful ground ball that went past the despairing arm of Chiefs 'keeper Itumeleng Khune in the 20th minute and he completed his brace in the 36th minute, when he hit the ball on the turn, the ball bouncing over the outstretched hand of Khune to give Swallows a 2-0 lead.

Chiefs tried to find their opening goal, but the Swallows defence stood firm until the final whistle.
