'Birds' to soar over Leopards
Moroka Swallows entertain Black Leopards in an Absa Premiership match at Germiston Stadium on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 3.45pm).
The 'Beautiful Birds' assistant coach Innocent Mayoyo is set to face Leopards coach Boebie Solomons, with whom he worked at Cape side Engen Santos and Maritzburg United.
"Boebie is my mentor," said Mayoyo, "I know him for a long time as I've worked and achieved some success with him both as a player and coach."
"He is a winner so I?m anticipating a big challenge from Leopards on Sunday. They are no longer the unpredictable force of the past. By appointing Boebie it shows clearly that - like us - they are aiming high."
There are a few injury worries for the 'Birds' but Mayoyo told morokaswallows.co.za there is enough depth to cover for the loss of personnel.
"It's been mine and Ian Gororwa's duty to find combinations in the team and to get the desired results," said Mayoyo, "[And] yes we have chopped and changed the squad since we came into the job.
"We now know what to expect from the players and we worked with our strikers James Chamanga and Sandile Ndlovu extensively during the break to get them to full match sharpness so that they can get us goals.
"Both players have scored already since joining us at the beginning of the season, which shows that they are more than capable of taking up the goal-scoring responsibilities for the team."
