'Injury Time' with Dr E - 20/09/07

In this week's 'Injury Time' with Dr E, Moroka Swallows' team doctor has some good news... and some bad news.

The good news is that James Chamanga started training this week, but the not-so-good news is that Tsweu Mokoro and Cecil Oerson are to undergo surgery in the next few days, which will keep them out of action for two months.

The full 'Birds' ward round is as follows:

1. Cecil Oerson:
Diagnosis: Grade 3A tear of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus, right knee.
Investigations: Diagnosis confirmed by an MRI scan done on September 17.
Surgery: Arthroscopic repair on September 26.
He will be out until November 26, 2007.

2. Tsweu Mokoro:
Dianosis: Gilmore's groin (Sportsman's hernia), left groin.
Investigations: Diagnosis confirmed by an Ultrasound scan done on September 11.
Surgery: Surgical repair on September 21.
He will be out until November 21, 2007.

3. James Chamanga:
Recurrence of left lower leg/ankle injury.
Started training this week.
Opinion: To undergo late fitness test sometime on Friday, September 21.

4. Mohammed Ouseb:
Had anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair on his right knee in April 2006.
He has been declared clinically fit to start training.
Opinion: Out for this weekend due to non-medical issues.

5. Bjorn Gugger:
Had lateral menisectomy on his left knee a few years ago. He subsequently suffered damages to the cartilage in that joint. Operation done in January 2007.
Opinion: Out for this weekend.

6. Tebogo Monyai:
- Open reduction and internal fixation of right tibia (leg bone), following a fracture in January 2007.
- Chondroplasty (arthroscopy) right knee in April 2007.
- Right groin operation (Gilmore's groin) in April 2007.

Started individual training sessions on the field this week.

Opinion: X-Rays done Thursday, August 23, confirm healing has gone well with satisfactory union of the bones.Out for this weekend.
