Mphahlele passes Matric

Moroka Swallows' youngster Ramahlwe Mphahlele was not only successful on the pitch in 2007, as the ?Beautiful Birds? defender also managed to achieve an S Symbol to pass his Matric.

Mphahlele had to wait until after Christmas to know his fate, but the 'Birds' rising star could breathe a sigh of relief after receiving his results on December 28, only three days before the New Year's celebrations.

Now apart from focusing on cementing his place in the ?Birds? starting line-up, the Masithwalisane Secondary High pupil plans to further his studies in the fields of Media Studies or Real Estate Management.

Speaking to the official Swallows website, the 'Birds' General Manager Sipho Xulu said that he was proud of Mphahlele's Grade 12 achievement.

"Many professional soccer players in the South African fraternity seem to neglect their studies," Xulu told morokaswallows.co.za, "[But] Ramahlwe has stuck it through and he has now opened up more doors for himself for the future.

"We feel we have played our part in supporting him, but he is a very determined young person and we wish he could maintain his focus and commitment to everything he undertakes in the future."
