Hunt flies out of the 'Birds' nest
Moroka Swallows General Manager Sipho Xulu has described Gavin Hunt's departure to SuperSport United as 'a great loss to the team'.
"Losing a coach of Gavin's calibre is a great loss indeed, but it was a change that was unavoidable," Xulu told the official Swallows website on Wednesday.
He added: "But having said that, Gavin's move might be good, not only SuperSport, but for Swallows as well, because both United and ourselves will have a new coach after more than four years without changing [a coach].
"On behalf of the Swallows management, technical staff and players, I would like to wish Gavin the best of luck at United. Who knows, maybe one day we might work together again?"
Xulu said the 'Birds' management would sit down and map out the way ahead soon, but a new Swallows coach will be appointed before the 2007/08 season gets underway.
"We will make an announcement as soon as we have decision," concluded the Swallows GM.
Meanwhile, Hunt has wished the club and its supporters well as he bids farewell to the 'Beautiful Birds', a team he has coached for four seasons.
"I never imagined I would one day leave Swallows, but I thought it was the right time for me to make a change," a pained Hunt said.
"But whoever comes in will find a solid team that has a lot of youngsters who are eager to take the team to greater heights.
"I'm happy with the contribution I have made in the team and I wish them the best of luck for next season."
