'Birds' out to reclaim second spot
Moroka Swallows will be looking to reclaim second position on the Castle Premiership log when they take on struggling Maritzburg United at Germiston Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
The 'Beautiful Birds' temporarily gave up that second spot to Silver Stars, who beat log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 on Wednesday night, but Swallows striker Sibusiso Dlamini is confident that they will topple Stars.
"We are anticipating a very tough game against Maritzburg, but we intend to beat them so that we can reclaim our second spot," Dlamini told the official Swallows website.
He added: "We want to play in the African Champions League next season and we know that in order to do that we need to finish second.
"The guys know what is at stake and we will go out there for the kill. This is our home game and we have to win it. I know we can."
'Spoko', as Dlamini is known in footballing circles, has promised the Maritzburg defence a torrid time - if he gets some game time on Saturday.
Either way, however, he will support the 'Birds', with Dlamini concluding: "[But] I will still be behind the team all the way."
Meanwhile, defender Patrick Mabedi is a doubtful starter for this encounter as he is suffering from a mild groin strain, but Jacob Mokhasi has recovered from his right ankle sprain.
