Chamanga set for AFCON action
Moroka Swallows striker James Chamanga has been included in the Zambian national soccer squad that will compete in the 26th African Cup of Nations in Ghana in January.
Chamanga picked up his form at the right time to force his way into the Zambian AFCON squad, after being excluded from the provisional list announced by the national team's head coach, Patrick Phiri, just last month.
So far the Zambian hitman has netted 10 times for the 'Beautiful Birds' in the league, including a record-breaking five-goal spectacle in Swallows' 6-2 thrashing of Platinum Stars.
'Birds' assistant coach Innocent Mayoyo was elated to hear about Chamanga's inclusion in the Zambian squad. "It's great news for James," Mayoyo told morokaswallows.co.za.
"With his good form and what he has done for the team, being part of his country's national team will serve as a great motivation for him. It's also great to know that the work we all put in, as a team here at Swallows, has rewards for all concerned."
He added: "From the Swallows technical staff we would like to wish him everything of the best, may he have a successful AFCON campaign.
"He must remember that wherever he goes, he represents the whole Swallows brand, but he must also know that we're right behind him all the way."
