Themba to fight for starting berth
Fit-again Moroka Swallows defender Sibusiso Themba is hoping to break into the 'Beautiful Birds' starting line-up very soon.
But Themba, who started training a few weeks ago after finally recovering from a long-term injury, admits that he faces an uphill battle to regain a starting place, because "the guys are doing well" in the league.
"It has been long frustrating months for me and having to watch the guys playing without any contribution from me has been even harder," Themba told the official Swallows website.
He added: "I'm not fully match-fit yet, but that is usual considering that I have been away from the game for months.
"I will be in top shape soon, but I must be realistic though about my chances of playing for the first team. I mean, it will be hard for coach Gavin Hunt to change a winning team, but I will be waiting patiently for my chance.
"I'm still young. I have a lot of time to impress the coach, so I won't rush anything."
Themba is proud of what has been achieved by the 'Beautiful Birds' this season.
"We are in the top-four bracket even though the team has been struggling with injuries," he pointed out.
"That's a major achievement, just think where we would have been, had we had an injury-free squad?"
