Swallows demolish Stars
Zambia striker James Chamanga rewrote the record books as he scored five goals in Moroka Swallows' 6-2 hammering of Platinum Stars in an Absa Premiership match at the Germiston Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Chamanga (pictured) completed his hat-trick in the space of just four first-half minutes, firing past Stars goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands in the 23rd, 24th and 26th minutes to put Swallows three goals to the good with just over a quarter of the game played.
Sandile Ndlovu then compounded Stars' misery when he added a fourth just past the half-hour mark.
Sipho Mchabe pulled one back for the visitors just before half-time, leaving the Birds 4-1 in the lead at the interval.
Six minutes after the restart, Edward Williams raised hope of a remarkable comeback from the Tycoons when he shot into the bottom corner of Greg Etafia's net from 20 metres out.
But Chamanga's heroics for the day were not done, as he added two late goals in the 86th and 88th minutes to secure a 6-2 win for Ian Gorowa's Swallows, who move up to 16 points on the PSL standings.
Stars, meanwhile, remain on 11 points and are in danger of being overhauled by last-placed Thanda Royal Zulu unless their form takes a drastic turn for the better.
